Harris Supporting UAW Files Labor Charges Against Trump and Musk after X Conversation

The United Auto Workers (UAW), which formally endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president, announced on Tuesday that it filed federal labor charges against former President Trump and Elon Musk after their Monday evening live conversation on the social platform X.

The fact that the Republican National Committee invited Teamsters President Sean O’Brien to speak at their convention last week, and the fact that he showed up and delivered an impassioned address to a mostly supportive audience, is yet another example of a historic political realignment.

O’Brien’s presence at the convention was his acknowledgement that support for Donald Trump is higher among union households than among the general public. An ABC News poll conducted earlier this year had Trump beating Biden 50 percent to 41 percent, whereas overall, Biden had 47 percent support to Trump’s 43 percent.

United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain is currently under investigation by a federal court-appointed watchdog, according to a court filing released on Monday.

Neil Barofsky is leading the investigation into whether Fain abused his power as head of the union in violation of a 2020 consent decree between the UAW and the U.S. Department of Justice that prevented a full federal takeover of the union.
