The Republican National Committee (RNC) on Friday secured a settlement from the city of Detroit, which includes hiring more Republican poll workers ahead of next month’s presidential election.
The settlement comes after the RNC, Michigan GOP, and chairs of Wayne County Republican committee sued Detroit in August over hiring over seven times more Democratic poll workers than Republican ones in the state’s primary election, in an alleged violation of state law.

Within an fundraising update for the month of July, Trump’s campaign stated they’ve pulled in a total of $138.7 million, thus providing a cash on hand total of $327 million. The new numbers come after Trump was confirmed as the GOP’s presidential nominee at the Republican National Committee in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and notably after the failed assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The fact that the Republican National Committee invited Teamsters President Sean O’Brien to speak at their convention last week, and the fact that he showed up and delivered an impassioned address to a mostly supportive audience, is yet another example of a historic political realignment.
O’Brien’s presence at the convention was his acknowledgement that support for Donald Trump is higher among union households than among the general public. The Republican National Committee on Monday formally adopted Trump’s 2024 party platform, which focused heavily on economy and border security issues. While both issues have been topline issues for Trump throughout his political career, the platform’s inclusion of other provisions highlighted the extent to which his own agenda had inserted itself into the party.
