As we outlined in Part One, here in California, we have an economy that would be the fifth largest in the world if it were to be separated as a standing nation. Home to Silicon Valley, Hollywood, world-class agriculture, and medical schools, California is an economic powerhouse.

Yet we, in California, have the highest poverty rate in the nation. We have a majority of the nation’s homeless people. We have the highest overall tax rates in the nation. Our energy costs are double that of the national average. Our per-student spending in schools is well above the national average, yet our students consistently have below-average grade-level test scores. Our major cities are crime-ridden, our power grid is woefully vulnerable, and our beaches are regularly closed due to raw sewage contamination.

158 House Democrats Vote Against Deporting Illegal Immigrant Sex Offenders

The U.S. House passed a bill to deport illegal foreign nationals convicted of domestic violence and sex-related offenses, including sex crimes against children, but not without controversy.

Majority of Voters Support Mass Deportations, New Poll Reveals

The majority of voters support mass deportations of illegal immigrants, a policy former President Donald Trump has vowed to implement, according to a Scripps News/Ipsos poll released Wednesday.

A policy of mass deportations, which has been championed by Trump in his campaign for the presidency, got 54% of support among voters, including 86% of Republicans, 58% of independents and 25% of Democrats, according to the poll. Immigration remains a priority for 39% of voters, second only to inflation, which 57% of voters say is their top issue going into November.

With August CBP Data, Illegal Border Crossers Top 2.75 Million This Year

More than 2.75 million foreign nationals have illegally crossed the U.S. border so far this fiscal year.

That total represents nationwide encounters and apprehensions at ports of entry and between ports of entry, including at the northern and southwest borders. Combined, they total 2,756,646 after U.S. Customs and Border Protection released August data. The federal government’s fiscal year runs from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30.
