Voters across multiple states cast ballots on who should be allowed to join them in referenda directed at voting rights, including the issue of noncitizen voting.

There’s national divide, highlighted by recent conversations on election integrity and immigration. Tuesday’s ballot measures were no different, reflecting a battleground that could potentially shape policy in future elections.

Preston James Releases Debut EP

Preston James

Preston James was the second person I ever interviewed for my Music Spotlight column. I saw him open for the iconic Tim Akers and The Smoking Section when he was just 15 years old at 3rd and Lindsley. I interviewed him when he was 16 years old and then featured him again when Preston James’ Band opened for Brian Seltzer in December of 2017.

My writing “hobby” has become a job, and I have interviewed over 500 artists. James is 24 years old, and I had no idea it had been seven years since I had followed up with him. We had to catch up before I could talk about his music.

Commentary: Trump Completes Greatest Comeback in Political History

Donald Trump

Against all odds, former President Donald Trump was reelected on Nov. 5, ousting Vice President Kamala Harris, winning the popular vote for the GOP for the first time since 2004, decisively winning the Electoral College and reclaiming the U.S. Senate, all as only the second former president to win reelection after Grover Cleveland did it in 1892 with non-consecutive terms in what can only be described as the greatest political comeback in American history.

Trump dodged bullets, prosecutions, convictions, censorship and overcame the historic incumbency advantage — first term incumbent parties usually win about two-thirds of the time, but not this time — able to capitalize on inflation outpacing incomes, wages and earnings for too long during the Biden-Harris administration as Americans paid the price at the grocery store and gas pump, more than 8 million illegal border crossings by illegal aliens who Trump promised to deport and endless foreign wars that threaten to spark a wider conflict or even nuclear war.

Donald Trump

A shift in Hispanic American voters in key swing states helped reelect former Republican President Donald Trump to the White House over his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, and that expansion was critical to his victory, according to several reports.

The Democrats spent much of their time building a campaign strategy that depicted the former Republican president as a dangerous threat to democracy while polls repeatedly reported that their key issues were inflation and the escalating cost of living.

Blue States Succeed in Stripping Defunct Definitions of Marriage from the Books

Gay Marriage

California and Colorado have successfully stripped definitions of marriage from state law, repealing same-sex marriage bans that have not been in effect for nearly a decade.

Californians are poised to pass Proposition 3, according to the New York Times, guaranteeing a constitutional right to marriage between same-sex couples and striking down Proposition 8, a previous law passed in 2010 banning same-sex marriage in the state. Colorado is poised to pass Amendment J, according to the NYT, striking similar language from the state’s constitution prohibiting the act.
