A conservative attorney on President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team said that attorneys at the Department of Justice could face getting fired if they don’t cooperate with his agenda.

“Once the decision is made to move forward, career employees are required to implement the President’s plan,” Mark Paoletta wrote on the social media platform, X.

Paoletta (pictured above) was responding to a story from Politico that described fear among DOJ lawyers about advancing policies from Trump that they think were illegal.

“If these career DOJ employees won’t implement President Trump’s program in good faith, they should leave,” Paoletta continued. “Those employees who engage in so-called ‘resistance’ against the duly-elected President’s lawful agenda would be subverting American democracy. … [t]hose that take such actions would be subject to disciplinary measures, including termination.”

Paoletta used to be a counsel to former Vice President Mike Pence during Trump’s first administration.

Some of Trump’s upcoming plans for 2024 include ending birthright citizenship and giving pardons for people convicted of non-violent crimes during the Jan. 6 Capitol Riot in 2021.
